Another Adventure

Today I began yet another adventure, embarked on another life-changing experience. For the next 24 days I will be in Belize with 17 other MVNU students taking the Senior Colloquium course (combined with one credit in Mission and Ministry). I'm so excited for this opportunity – for all that God is going to teach me through it and all that He is going to do in and through me. I know this experience is going to stretch me. It's going to be challenging...in a good way!

We began our day at CMH Airport at 7am, many of us having slept very little or not at all. We flew from CHM to DFW and arrived at BZE around 4PM (central time zone). After making our way through customs our bus driver (Dwight) took us to a restaurant called Cheers. Everyone loved it! They had food that ranged from typical Belizean rice and beans to a good 'ol American bacon cheeseburger. I went with the chicken quesadilla, which was definitely a good choice!

After dinner we traveled to Kindred Spirits Campground near Belomopan (the capital of Belize) where we will be staying until Saturday. (One of my favorite things we saw while traveling from the airport to Kindred Spirits was the houses still decorated with Christmas houses! There's definitely a wide range of housing conditions and also a very spaced out population. You can drive miles and miles and not see any houses at all.) Dwight skillfully maneuvered our bus through the mud to get us as close as possible to a building we could go through to get to a sidewalk that led to the cabins. We had some time to get our things settled before regrouping for a meeting in which we discussed course requirements and got to know each other a little more. After the meeting, it was back to the cabins to get some much needed sleep.
